Free SSL certificate checker

See when your certificate expires, whether browsers trust it, and whether old TLS versions are still switched on. Results in a few seconds.

We make a few ordinary requests, like one visitor opening your home page. Results are not stored.

This tool looks at one area. The full website security scan also checks security headers, email spoofing protection, exposed files and outdated software, and gives you a score and a fix plan.

Questions about the SSL Checker

What happens when an SSL certificate expires?

Browsers show a full-page "Your connection is not private" warning and most visitors leave. Payment pages and logins stop working for many people. Renewing before the expiry date avoids this.

My hosting renews the certificate automatically. Do I still need to check?

Automatic renewal (for example Let's Encrypt) usually works, but it fails quietly when DNS changes, a site moves server or a firewall blocks the renewal check. A quick check, or the free expiry reminders from Security Watch, catches that before visitors see an error.

Why does TLS 1.0 or 1.1 matter?

They are old protocol versions with known weaknesses and have been formally deprecated (RFC 8996). Modern browsers no longer use them, so leaving them on adds risk without helping real visitors.

Is this the same as the full scan?

No. This tool only checks SSL/TLS. The free website scan also checks security headers, email spoofing protection, exposed files and outdated software.
